Advocacy & Rights
KienguWcc has become a recognized voice in Meru County for pushing disability issues into public discourse and governance. From lobbying to policy inclusion, this service is about transforming government systems to be more responsive to the needs of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
We actively engage with public offices, including the Meru County Government and Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committees, to ensure disability matters are part of mainstream development planning. In 2017, we successfully lobbied for the inclusion of PWD concerns in the 2017–2022 County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP). Most recently, we submitted a second memorandum in 2024 advocating for a fully-fledged Directorate of Disability. In a landmark win, our advocacy led to the redesign of a constituency office building to include accessibility features like ramps.
